Durbanville arose round the best water-source for dozens of kilometres, which drew half of all travellers in the Cape; and when, around the turn of the eighteenth century, the important routes were laid down, they went by way of the Spring which, even at the height of summer, poured out thousands of gallons of sweet water a day (and, in fact, served the village of Durbanville as its water supply until 1958)..

The site of the village itself (today's central area) was set aside for public use at some stage in the first forty years of the settlement at De Kaap, after which the Company continually refrained from granting farm land around the Spring.

Located near to famous wine estates and overlooking the beautiful Boland mountains, lies the prestigious 18 hole Durbanville golfcourse. It is surrounded by wide open views of farmland on the one side and the upmarket suburb of Durbanville on the other. This is truly golf at its best.

The course, designed by Ken Elkin, was established in 1971 through the enthusiasm of local amateurs and approved by the community at a local meeting in the Town Hall.

The club offers a special welcome to visitors and has built up a reputation as a friendly club catering for all the needs of especially our overseas visitors.

The 18-hole Golf Course is located in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town and is only 30 km's or 20 minutes drive from the City.

The course is relatively flat with no steep hills to climb and no jungle to swallow your ball, only open space with beautiful fairways and bent grass greens. Driving Range

A driving range offers golfers the opportunity to practice their drives before tee off.

The club not only offers a well stocked Pro-Shop to cater for golfing needs, but a halfway house and catering facility offers freshly prepared snack style food as well as a lunch menu. Tranquility
